SHAPE OPTIMIZATION OF RIGID BODY, PENETRATING INTO CONTINUOUS MEDIUM

Abstract

The problem of maximization of depth of rigid striker penetration into continuous medium (concrete, steel etc.) is studied on the basis of two-stage penetration model taking into account three-term expression for drag force determination. The shape of axisymmetric striker (rigid body) as unknown design variable is taken. To solve the formulated problem of optimization of non-additive functional expressed the depth of penetration of striker into continuous medium the evolutional approach based on genetic algorithm is applied. As a result of performed computation optimal solutions are founded and it is shown that the optimal striker has the blunt shape.
