Abstract
The work present the results of experimentally investigating the basic mechanical properties of heterogeneous brittle media such as concrete, fiber-reinforced concrete, ceramics and refractory materials of different density, as well as some rocks. The dynamic properties were experimentally studied using Kolsky method and its modifications. It is shown that the mechanical properties are strongly influenced by the stress-strain state, strain rate and the stress increase rate.
