Abstract
The issues of mathematically modeling the drawing procedure used in the production of optical fibers are discussed. An algorithm and the results of mathematically modeling the drawing process are given. The effect of local thermal perturbations on the geometry of the drawn two-layer fiber is studied. A general possibility is shown to control the fiber form, using temperature fields formed in appropriate zones of the lower part of the spinneret of the double crucible.
Key words: optic fiber, mathematical modeling, inter-media boundary, viscous melt flow, inhomogeneous temperature fields.
