THE ANALYSIS OF THE SERVICE LIFE OF AN ELASTIC PIPE LOADED BY A LONGITUDINAL FORCE, PRESSURE AND AXISYMMETRIC HEATING IN THE CONDITIONS OF UNIFORM CORROSION
Abstract
The uniform surface mechanical-chemical corrosion of a linear-elastic thick-walled pipe loaded by a longitudinal force and the pressure of aggressive media of various temperatures is analyzed. The corrosion rate is assumed to depend linearly on the maximum principal stress and exponentially on the time and temperature. The cases when maximum stresses may bi either longitudinal or circumferential are investigated. In each situation the problem is reduced to solving a first-order ordinary differential equation for the given characteristic size of the pipe. Analytical solutions (in quadratures) of the main equations are constructed. An algorithm for predicting the service life of pipes using the functions of their assessed longevity according to various criteria is introduced.
