Abstract

A methodology for analyzing problems of static and dynamic deformation of pipeline systems on supports with nonlinear characteristics is introduced. The solution of the problems is sought in the form of decomposition according to the types of static deformation and self-oscillation. The decomposition coefficients act as generalized coordinates for which a system of nonlinear differential equations is obtained, using second-kind Lagrange equations. The effectiveness of the method is illustrated by the results of the analysis of the static deformation problem of a pipeline on slipfriction supports and of the dynamic problem of a vertical cantilever pipe having a support with a circular gap.
